Faction Warfare in Space is Hell
🌀 Oblivion Rifts: PvP Sieges for the Galaxy’s Rarest Resource
Oblivion Rifts are the most important endgame events in Space is Hell—appearing only in open PvP zones and offering exclusive access to Oblivion Cores, the rarest and most valuable resource in the galaxy. These events blend large-scale faction warfare, timed objectives, and high-stakes mining into a dynamic battleground that shapes the balance of power.
1. Rift Overview: Chaos in the Stars
PvP-Only Spawns Oblivion Rifts appear only in open PvP systems, making every event a high-risk engagement from the start.
Dynamic Timing & Location Rifts spawn randomly across the star map’s PvP sectors, forcing factions to stay alert and ready to mobilize.
Global Alerts All players receive real-time alerts when a Rift opens:
“An Oblivion Rift has opened in [System Name]! Deploy your fleet and secure the core!”
Primary Objectives:
Mine Oblivion Cores for top-tier upgrades.
Engage in faction-scale PvP combat to control the Rift.
Gain economic and strategic dominance by locking down the zone.
2. Securing the Rift: PvP Combat & Warp Disruptors
2.1 Rapid Mobilization
Once a Rift spawns, factions must quickly deploy fleets to contest the area.
Support Ships play a vital role—only they can deploy Warp Disruptors efficiently to begin the lockdown.
2.2 Warp Disruptor Deployment
Goal: Lock down the Rift system and prevent further enemy reinforcements.
Deployment Mechanics:
Only one Disruptor can be active at a time.
Must be deployed by a ship carrying a Disruptor Module (Support Ships deploy faster and at reduced cost).
Once placed, the Disruptor begins a 15-minute activation countdown.
If destroyed before the timer ends, the lockdown fails and the Rift remains contested.
2.3 PvP Engagement & Telemetry Rewards
The activation period becomes a siege-style battle as factions fight to defend or destroy the Disruptor.
Players earn Telemetry per PvP kill during Rift combat, with:
Higher rewards for taking down high-level or grouped enemies.
Strategic incentives for PvP-focused builds and squad play.
3. Mining Oblivion Cores: The 24-Hour Window
3.1 Safe Mining Period
If the Disruptor survives its activation phase, the Rift is secured.
The controlling faction gains exclusive mining access for 24 hours.
No other players can warp into the system during this time.
3.2 Oblivion Core Deposits
Oblivion Cores are found in high-yield asteroid clusters throughout the Rift.
Players must coordinate mining squads and hauler protection to maximize yield before the Rift expires.
4. Deployment Bonuses: Rewarding Leadership and Team Play
When a faction successfully locks a Rift, mining bonuses are granted to key players based on their contribution:
Deployer (Disruptor)
+20% Oblivion Core yield
24 hours
Squad Members (in system)
+10% Oblivion Core yield
24 hours
Alliance Members (in system)
+5% Oblivion Core yield
24 hours
Note: Squad and alliance members must be present in the Rift system at the moment of lockdown to receive the buff.
These bonuses encourage:
Leadership in taking the initiative.
Squad coordination in defending deployments.
Alliance strategy in rallying large-scale forces.
5. Oblivion Core Usage & Logistics
Core Utility
Ship Upgrades: Unlock high-tier traits and increase survivability.
Weapon Enhancements: Boost damage, energy efficiency, and combat range.
Marketplace Value: Tradeable and highly sought after, Cores drive the player economy.
Logistical Challenges
While mining is safe inside the Rift, extraction is not.
Haulers leaving the PvP zone must be escorted—ambushes are common near exits and gates.
6. Strategic Impact: Why Rifts Matter
Faction Coordination
Rifts demand true teamwork—fleet roles, calls for backup, and defense layers all come into play.
Progression Pressure
Oblivion Cores are required for late-game upgrades, making Rifts essential for top-tier progression.
PvP Hotspot
The 15-minute Disruptor phase and the battle for control turn every Rift into a live fire warzone.
Economic Driver
As Cores fuel upgrades and the marketplace, Rifts sit at the center of the game’s player-driven economy.
⚡ Summary
Oblivion Rifts are where legends are made. Spawning only in open PvP zones, they challenge players to act fast, fight hard, and work together to lock down the most valuable resource in the galaxy. From siege warfare around a fragile Disruptor to coordinated mining operations and high-value hauler runs, every moment inside a Rift pushes players and factions to their limits. This is where battles are won—not just for glory, but for power, progression, and survival.
